Motocross Championship - Round 4 - Walnut, IL
Motoworks’ John Natalie put on an incredible charge, coming back after a nasty wreck in moto one, to finish in fourth overall while his French teammate, Jeremie Warnia, would round out the top five at round four of the 2010 AMA ATV Motocross Championships.
Sunset Ridge, which has become one of the more technical courses on the circuit, was the hosting facility for this round, but it seemed to suit the Can-Am/Motoworks’ team quite well, especially John Natalie.
Natalie shot off the line in second in the first moto with teammate Chad Wienen right behind him in third. The pair was chasing down leader Josh Upperman when Wienen would hit a kicker right as he was passing Natalie. Both riders went down, but Natalie, living up to his “Ironman” reputation, quickly got back in the mix and charged from eighth place, up to a sixth place finish in moto one.
In moto two Natalie was on a mission and determined to be one of the front runners of the pack. Natalie charged off the line and was laying down incredible lap times, and scored the fastest lap of the moto in lap three with a time of 01:51.500. Natalie’s efforts would have him finishing moto two in a solid third place, giving him fourth overall for the day.
Jeremie Warnia came on strong in moto one. The number 62 racer was in sixth off the line and worked his way into fourth place, but a hard hit in the whoops section would blow out his rear shock. However, Warnia would not give up and held on for a ninth place finish. In moto two, Warnia was on the gas and would earn a sixth place finish, giving him 5th overall. “I had a good race, and I am hoping to do even better at Steel City,” stated Warnia.
Chad Wienen’s wreck in moto one would take him out of commission for that moto, but he would come back strong in moto two and mount a charge from a tenth place start, all the way up to a fourth place finish. Despite his bad luck for this round, Wienen still holds the number five spot in the pro points chase.
Round five of the 2010 AMA ATV Motocross Championship series will head to the popular Steel City in Delmont, PA on May 29th – 30th, which should provide a home state advantage for John Natalie as he shoots for the top of the podiu
